Tesla Roadster

American Made Electric Vehicles

Tesla hasn’t manufactured Roadsters in a long time, but production is set to resume in late 2021, with deliveries beginning in 2023. The Tesla Factory in Fremont, California, manufactures the Roadster Second Generation, which has a range of up to 620 miles and a 0-to-60 mph speed of 1.9 seconds. The next-level Roadster is said to include spaceship-inspired rockets and a top speed of 250 mph.

Prices begin at $200,000, with a $50,000 deposit required. Choose the $250,000 Founder’s Series limited edition Tesla Roadster if you really want to stand out.

Chevrolet Corvette EV

American Made Electric Vehicles

Chevy appears to be introducing a Corvette EV in the near year or two, in addition to the Chevy Bolt EV Crossover and Chevy Cadillac Lyriq EV (see below), with the Corvette’s cover blown by none other than President Biden! The all-electric Corvette, which might reach 200 mph, will most likely be built alongside every other Corvette at the Bowling Green Assembly plant.

Since its inception in 1981, the Kentucky plant has produced over a million Corvettes while remaining exceptionally ecologically friendly. The Corvette EV is not only produced in America, but it is also significantly more ecologically friendly than many other EVs, thanks to features such as a large solar array, LED lighting, dry scrubber technology in the paint plant, and other initiatives. Chevy Corvettes (non-EV) are ranked fifth in the 2020 Made in America Auto Index, with a 64 percent American-made content.

BMW iX

American Made Electric Vehicles

The BMW iX is a midsize, crossover, SUV electric vehicle that will go on sale in early to mid-2022. It boasts a 63-kWh battery pack and 335 horsepower, giving it a range of 285 miles per charge. Production is expected to commence in November or December 2021, with entry-level and mid-tier models being produced first. In the spring of 2022, a top-tier model is also expected to go into production. Although US plants will not begin operations until later this year, global manufacture might begin as early as July 2021.

One of the exciting potential components of the BMW EV is Natural Interaction technology, which uses touch-sensitive materials within the car to offer a new means of engaging with the vehicle. The iX is expected to have soft-close doors, two-axle air suspension, and 4WD as an option.

Bollinger B1 and B2

American Made Electric Vehicles

Bollinger, a relatively unknown electric car manufacturer, plans to launch two EVs later this year: an SUV (B1) and a pickup truck (B2) (2021). These EVs will have a boxy appearance, an aluminum frame, and all-wheel drive. They should be able to tow up to 7,500 pounds, travel 200 miles, and reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

The Bollinger B1 and B2 will be huge trucks with massive (142-kWh) battery packs and dual electric motors. They’ll be down-to-earth, gritty, and unpretentious. They are the only Class 3 electric trucks on the market, according to Bollinger, and feature a massive 15-inch ground clearance. These EV vehicles have off-road capabilities, tremendous torque and horsepower, and 50/50 weight distribution.

The Bollinger EV trucks are manufactured in Detroit, where the firm seeks to produce locally while making a global effect.

Chevrolet Bolt EV Crossover / EUV

American Made Electric Vehicles

Another Chevy! The Chevrolet Bolt EV Crossover (or EUV) will be built at GM’s Orion Assembly plant in Orion Township, Michigan, owing to a $160 million Bolt manufacturing boost. This electric SUV will be higher and more spacious than a conventional Bolt, thanks to GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system. Connectivity to Super Cruise is free for three years if you choose the Premier trim; beyond that, a membership plan is required.

The Chevy EUV is expected to have a range of 250 miles, which is extremely good for an SUV but not quite as impressive as the BMW iX. The latest Bolt EV has a 259-mile range.

The good news is that a BMW costs significantly more than the $33,000 starting price of the Chevy Bolt EUV!

Lucid Air

American Made Electric Vehicles

The Lucid Air, a midsize electric sedan manufactured in Casa Grande, Arizona, is expected to have a range of 406 miles on a single charge. Lucid, formerly known as Atieva, is an American carmaker specializing in electric automobiles. It also functions as an energy storage hub, acting as a one-stop shop for EV technologies. The company was founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Newark, California. There are reports that a factory may be developed in China.

The Lucid Air Dream Edition, the company’s first vehicle, is set to be released this spring. It will be distinguished from other electric cars by a dual-motor, 1,080-horsepower all-wheel-drive architecture and a stated quarter-mile time of 9.9 seconds. It is expected to be the fastest charging EV on the market, with an EPA range of up to 517 miles. When connected to a DC Fast Charging network, the Lucid Air Dream Edition can charge at up to 20 miles per minute, offering 300 miles of range after only 20 minutes of charging. When pushed, this EV can reach a top speed of 235 mph and has a stylish interior that rivals that of an Audi.

All of those firsts, fastests, and fanciness, however, come at a cost. Even with a tax return, the Lucid Air Dream Edition can cost well over $150,000 USD. However, three years of free high-speed charging are included, and less expensive alternatives will be available soon. The following are your current pre-release options, according to the company’s website:

The $169,000 all-inclusive Air Dream Edition will be available in spring 2021 ($161,500 after the federal tax credit for the United States).

The fully equipped Air Grand Touring will go on sale in mid-2021 at $139,000.

The well-equipped Air Touring variant will go on sale in late 2021, with a starting price of $95,000 (US$87,500 after the federal tax credit).

The first item in the series, the Air, will be available in 2022 for $77,400 ($69,900 after the federal tax credit in the United States)*.

Ford F 150 EV

American Made Electric Vehicles

The Ford F 150 EV will be manufactured at a new EV factory in Dearborn, Michigan, beginning in 2022. Because the batteries will be manufactured at Ford’s Rouge Center, this EV pickup will be one of the most “made in America” vehicles available.

Because of Ford’s existing hybrid F 150, there has been considerable confusion over this electric pickup truck. The F 150 EV will be priced similarly to a gas-powered truck but will be entirely electric. When compared to Tesla’s Cybertruck, Rivian R1T, and GM’s Hummer EV pickup, the Ford F 150 EV is clearly one of the most economical electric pickup trucks on the market in the United States, especially when the $7,500 federal tax credit is considered.

The Ford F 150 EV entry-level model, which starts at $39,974, is designed for corporate users. A more advanced mid-series (XLT) with additional comfort and technology starts at $52,974 and goes up from there. Prices might range up to $90,474 depending on the features you choose. You can reserve one of these vehicles now for $100 (which is fully refundable), and you’ll be able to place your order starting in the fall of 2021. The first shipments are planned to begin in the spring of 2022.

The F 150 EV is more than simply a flashy display vehicle. With a towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, a maximum payload of 2,000 pounds, and superior maneuverability over a wide range of terrains and road conditions, this machine is designed to be a true workhorse. Each drive mode, Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, or Off-Road, can be configured on the 12-inch digital productivity screen.

The base model of the F 150 EV should have a range of 230 miles, while the extended range model, which will cost around $50,000, should have a range of 300 miles. The F-150 Lightning with the extended-range battery will accelerate faster than any F-150 before it, with a 0-60 mph pace in the mid-4 second range and a targeted 563 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque.

The four-door SuperCrew cab will be standard on all four Ford F 150 Lightning variants. This electric truck, like its gas and hybrid siblings, is slated to offer plenty of space and a fold-out center console work area. An onboard payload scale, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist to make towing your Airstream or other objects easier than ever, and a trailer reverse assist system make backing up straightforward.

Another enticing feature is the F 150 EV’s (in my opinion, horribly named) Mega Power Frunk. Where the internal combustion engine would normally be found in a typical Ford pickup truck, the front trunk of the EV pickup truck provides both approachable power outlets and 14.1 cubic feet of cargo storage (enough for eight 50 lbs bags of concrete mix, according to Ford).

The trunk has one USB-C and one USB-A connector, as well as four Pro Power Onboard 120V outlets with a total exportable power of 2.4kW. This means you can use a laptop, power tools, and even a microwave or TV if you want. Essentially, you could probably live very happily in the new F 150 EV for the cost of a down payment on a house.

Rivian R1S

American Made Electric Vehicles

The company’s flagship EUV, the Rivian R1S, is also manufactured in Illinois. The R1S is priced at $70,000 and has a range of over 300 miles. It boasts 14 inches of ground clearance, can rock crawl at a 100% grade, drive in up to 3 feet of water, and handles like a sports car. I’m a purchaser!

The R1S truck has the same quad-motor layout as the R1T truck (one for each independent wheel), but its towing capability is somewhat lower (up to 7,700 lbs.). It has the same panoramic canopy as the R1T (with an open-air option for 2022) and an incredibly low center of gravity for safer handling. The third row splits 50/50 and the second row folds 60/40, making it simple to alter the seating and storage capacity as needed (a large 108 cubic feet of storage space is available!).

Given that I’m not very tall, I appreciate the R1S’s capacity to automatically adjust its height. When parked, the height may be reduced to 8.1 inches off the ground, making it considerably easier to load groceries, place a wiggling infant in a car seat, or convince bulkier equipment to fit in the storage space. This, in my perspective, is the future camping, kayaking, and soccer parent EV. Furthermore, because the seats fold virtually flat, there is plenty of space for comfortable stargazing.

The R1S Launch Edition will be available in August 2021, with a starting price of $77,500. The Adventure and Explore models will be available in January 2022 for $77,500 and $70,500, respectively.

Tesla Cybertruck

American Made Electric Vehicles

If you’ve been lusting over a Cybertruck since seeing that hilarious demo of its unbreakable glass back in the day, you’re undoubtedly disappointed that the full-scale production delivery date has now been put out to 2022. There’s a chance that some early adopters will get their much-desired Cybertrucks in late 2021, but I wouldn’t count on it considering that the design is still being considered. There are valid concerns that the current design will not meet US or European traffic safety regulations, in part because it provides very little protection for pedestrians.

The Cybertruck, on the other hand, will be manufactured at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. The wedge-shaped stainless steel vehicle should be able to pull 7,500-14,500 pounds depending on whether you choose the single-, dual-, or three-motor variant. Again, depending on the motor you choose, the Cybertruck can travel between 250 and 500 miles on a single charge. It also has a 100-cubic-foot storage capacity, 6 seats, and a suspension that can be changed by 4 inches for a 16-inch clearance.

The two-motor all-wheel drive costs $49,000, while the three-motor all-wheel drive costs $69,000. A $39,000 rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck is also under consideration.

Cadillac Lyriq

American Made Electric Vehicles

The Cadillac will soon receive an electric makeover. The Cadillac Lyriq, an EUV in the crossover station wagon style, will be one of the first GM vehicles to use Ultium battery technology. Orders will be accepted beginning in September 2021, with delivery scheduled for 2022. The EV Cadillacs will be manufactured in China for Asian buyers and at Spring Hill Manufacturing in Tennessee for models sold in North America.

The Cadillac Lyriq has five seats, can go 300 miles on a single charge, and has dual on-board charging. A Level 2 (AC) charger can charge the Lyriq at up to 52 miles per hour, while a fast-charging DC charger can charge it to 76 miles in as little as 10 minutes.

The cabin of the Lyriq is technologically advanced, featuring a 33-inch diagonal advanced LED display and Chevy’s SuperCruise technology for hands-free driving on particular roads. The Lyriq starts at $58,795 and goes up from there.
