Best Heavy duty trucks
Ram 2500
Best Heavy duty trucks, The Ram Huge Duty is a full size pickup truck that is specifically intended for lifting heavy loads and towing large trailers. These are quite competent pickup trucks, and the 3500 model, when properly equipped, can haul more than 37,000 pounds.
The Ram Heavy Duty is a full size pickup truck that can compete with the likes of the Chevrolet Silverado HD and the Ford Super Duty. It has seating for up to 6 passengers. On the 2500 and 3500 versions, a 410 hp, 6.4 liter V8 engine with an 8 speed automatic gearbox is standard equipment. An optional Cummins turbo diesel 6.7 liter inline 6 engine with either 370 or 420 hp and a 6 speed automatic transmission is also available. The diesel engine used in the 3500 can provide as much as 1,075 pound feet of torque. The 4 wheel drive system is an available extra. The standard configuration is rear wheel drive.
The Chrysler Uconnect 5 multimedia system is now standard equipment on the Big Horn as well as higher trim levels. New towing camera capabilities allow the driver to see what’s behind a trailer using the rearview camera mirror and gain a 360 degree view of only the trailer. A new Silver Edition is available for the Big Horn and Lone Star trims.
Ford F-250 Super Duty
The vast majority of people do not require a 2022 Ford Super Duty vehicle, be it an F-250, F-350, or F-450. Nevertheless, it is a fantastic option for people who have a need for one. There are three different V8 engines available, one of which is 7.3 liters and has 473 pound feet of torque, while the other is 6.7 liters and has 1050 pound feet of torque. Towing capacities of up to 37,000 pounds and payload capacities of up to 7,850 pounds are both possible with a properly equipped Super Duty.
While Ram’s heavy duty competitors offer higher torque and towing capabilities, as well as finer cabins, Ford’s most luxurious crew cab trucks feature luxury surrounds and abundant passenger accommodation. Ram’s heavy duty competitors also have better cabins. The Chevrolet Silverado HD and the GMC Sierra HD both have superior handling, but the 2022 Super Duty has more high tech equipment and additional driver aid features.
In 2022, the Super Duty series will be offered with a new appearance package, in addition to new information and entertainment systems, new exterior and interior color options, and new external and interior color options. The heavy duty pickup now comes standard with a touchscreen measuring 12.0 inches, running Ford’s Sync 4 software, and featuring wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto integration.
Models may have a sportier appearance by purchasing the Lariat Sport look option, which includes color matched grilles, bumpers, and exterior mirrors in addition to black running boards and chrome exhaust tips. The paint palette now includes Atlas Blue as one of the colors. Baja is now available for the Lariat trim, while Navy Pier and Light Slate have been added to the Limited.
GMC Sierra 2500HD
Do not be deceived by the Denali trim level the 2022 GMC Sierra HD is not a show pony but rather a workhorse. Even in their most lavish version, the GMC twins remain remarkably competent of performing their intended functions, despite the fact that they can be adorned with chrome and upholstered in soft leather. They come standard with a Duramax diesel engine that is both strong and refined, a beautiful multifunction tailgate, and a number of trailer assist features.
Despite the fact that the 2022 Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD are excellent vehicles, they are not as capable as the Ford Super Duty and the Ram HD. Both the Sierra 2500 HD and 3500HD have maximum ratings of 18,500 and 35,500 pounds for towing and lifting, respectively. However, the maximum ratings of competitors are greater. In addition, some of the competitors offer more advanced driver assistance features, better interiors, or both.
In 2022, neither the Sierra 2500HD nor the 3500HD will receive any substantial updates or changes. The only thing that immediately stands out is that the Pro trim level is now considered the entry level work vehicle. In the past, the entry level trim level was simply referred as as the Sierra.
Ford F-150
The 2022 Ford F 150 is a workhorse that offers a broad number of trim levels and body types, allowing it to be customized to be furnished to suit a variety of activities. Contractors and fleet managers will value the affordability and versatility of the standard XL model, while oil barons and affluent ranch owners will like the King Ranch or Limited trim levels. There is a wide selection of powertrains to choose from, such as a hybrid and a diesel, in addition to an off road capable form of the Tremor that claims to carry you practically anywhere.
The Ford F-150 has the tenacity to see the task through to its conclusion. It is not quite as pleasurable to drive on a daily basis as its primary competitor, the Ram 1500, but the Ford’s reputation and greater choice of available options have traditionally persuaded a considerable percentage of purchasers to choose it over the Ram 1500. We are convinced that a small percentage of customers will be dissatisfied with their purchase.
For the 2022 model year, Ford has introduced a new Black Appearance option that may be added to the F 150 XL, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum models. The Bed Utility package is now available as an option on the XL, XLT, Lariat, and Tremor trim levels, while it is included as standard equipment on the more luxurious King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trim levels. There is a step for the tailgate, and the tie downs are of the locking cleat variety. The color Atlas Blue is included as part of the color palette for this year. In 2022, Ford will release an all electric variant of the F-150 Lightning, but we won’t go into that vehicle just yet.
Toyota Tundra
The full size pickup truck sector is dominated by domestic automakers, but the 2022 Toyota Tundra caters to a somewhat distinct demographic, notably Toyota devotees. Even though they’re getting on in years, most half ton trucks still come equipped with a leaf spring rear suspension. Because it has coil springs in the back, the Toyota Tundra drives and handles better than its competitors. It has a maximum towing capacity of 12,000 pounds and is equipped with a variety of driver assistance devices as standard equipment.
There is no V8 powertrain available for the Toyota Tundra, in contrast to its domestic competitors. Gasp! There is just one engine choice available, and it is a twin turbo V6 with a hybrid system. This engine is capable of producing 437 horsepower and 583 pound feet of torque. The cabin of the 2022 Tundra is noticeably more attractive than that of its predecessor, and the infotainment system includes a touch screen that is 14.0 inches in size. These are just two of the many reasons why the 2022 Tundra has what it takes to compete with the American vehicles.
After the previous model of the Toyota Tundra had remained mostly unchanged since it was first introduced in 2007, Toyota decided to give it a much needed complete facelift. Despite having been revamped for the 2014 model year, it had a hard time outselling domestic half ton competitors including the Ford F-150, the Ram 1500, the Chevy Silverado 1500, and the GMC Sierra 1500. These competitors include these vehicles.
Even though it is not anticipated that the new Tundra would outsell any of those rivals, the various enhancements that have been made to it should make it far more competitive and appealing when it arrives in showrooms this winter. A new top of the line Capstone trim level is now available, and it has shining chrome, wheels that are 22 inches in diameter, and a variety of high tech extras.
Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Brand loyalty is vital when it comes to full size trucks, and the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado provides enthusiasts a reason to shout about the company’s offerings. The Ford F-150 was just recently updated and now offers the only hybrid option in the segment. The Ram 1500 boasts the greatest ride quality and prettiest interior, but the ’22 Silverado counters with a snazzy cabin and a new self driving capability that works with a trailer. Both of these capabilities are exclusive to the segment.
The portfolio of powertrains that Chevy offers is as broad as it has ever been, with everything from a powerful turbo four to a torquey diesel 6 cylinder to a massive 6.2 liter V8. When it comes to doing work, it has a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds and is equipped with a number of different high tech trailering aids. The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado has a rough ride and some other shortcomings in terms of refinement, but it has good handling for a truck and tries very hard to stay up with the other half ton competitors.
The Chevrolet Silverado receives many substantial updates for the 2022 model year. All of the vehicles’ front ends have been restyled, although the redesigned interiors are only available on the LT and higher trim levels.
These variations include a digital gauge cluster that is 12.3 inches in size and a big touch screen infotainment system that is 13.4 inches in size. Additionally, the cabin materials have been upgraded, and the layout has been made more contemporary. The vast majority of active safety features are now standard on each and every Silverado, and the top of the line High Country model has the option to be outfitted with Super Cruise, which is General Motors’ hands free driving technology.
There is also a powerful ZR2 off road variant available for purchase in the Silverado lineup (which has been tested separately), although it is not as severe as the Ford F 150 Raptor or the Ram 1500 TRX (reviewed separately).
Nissan Titan
In 2022, the Nissan Titan is a sturdy and strong full size pickup truck, but it is surpassed in performance by competitors that are both more capable and more up to date. Following the introduction of the brand new Toyota Tundra, it would appear that the Nissan is no longer the most advantageous non domestic alternative. The Titan boasts the greatest warranty in its class and a big range of popular technological amenities, but its infotainment system is antiquated in comparison to the systems offered by its competitors, which have more options and are more innovative.
The Titan is only offered in two different cab configurations the extended and the crew and it is driven by a 400 horsepower V8 mated to an automatic transmission. Due to the fact that it only has one motor, the 2022 Nissan Titan cannot compete with full size pickups like the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Ford F 150, or Ram 1500. Additionally, the interior is quite quiet, and the chairs are really comfy.
The Titan range from Nissan has been updated for the 2022 model year with new standard features and enhanced option packages. A spray on bed liner and a trailer hitch are now included as standard equipment on the S trim level. The Convenience package, which was formerly an optional addition, will now be standard on the next up SV. The package comes complete with a remote starter, front and back parking sensors, front and rear temperature control with dual zone climate control, a power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, and more.
Jeep Gladiator
The Jeep Gladiator 2022 pickup vehicle requires a compromise between the level of comfort and the amount of usefulness it provides. Given the truck’s increased versatility in comparison to the widely used Wrangler SUV, it is easy for Jeep brand loyalists to make that choice in favor of the pickup.
The Gladiator not only has body panels that can be removed and the ability to maneuver freely through mud and filth, but it also has the capacity to pull two tons and comes with a cargo bed, providing it even more adaptability than it already possessed. Although the Wrangler is more nimble on the terrain, the Gladiator offers a more pleasant ride because to its longer wheelbase.
When traveling at highway speeds, the Jeep is more difficult to handle than competitors with body on frame construction, such as the Ford Ranger and the Nissan Frontier, and it requires more frequent steering inputs to maintain stability. the diesel engine that is optionally available in the 2022 Jeep Gladiator generates more torque (442 pound feet as opposed to 369) and has a better combined EPA rating (24 mpg as opposed to 22) than the gasoline engines that are standard in the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon.
The Jeep Gladiator model range will carry over through 2022 without undergoing any substantial revisions. As a matter of course, there is always the possibility that the company will release a limited edition model later on in the year, just like it did with the 2021 Texas Trail version, which is only available in the state of Texas. This would be similar to the situation in which the company released the 2021 Texas Trail version. A Gladiator equipped with the 470 horsepower V8 found in the recently introduced Wrangler Rubicon 392 would be another vehicle that piques our interest.
Honda Ridgeline
The 2022 Honda Ridgeline has earned a position on best Heavy duty trucks list because of its remarkable adaptability. It combines the most desirable characteristics of mid size pickup trucks and crossover vehicles. The cargo box, which consists of a short but broad bed in addition to an underfloor trunk, is undeniably the distinguishing feature of this vehicle. Although it has certain stylistic elements that are reminiscent of trucks, Honda’s pickup cannot disguise its unibody structure. This structure restricts the pickup’s off road capabilities and hauling capacity while increasing the vehicle’s comfort on the road.
Although the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and the Jeep Gladiator are capable of going almost everywhere, they are unable to compete with the Honda in terms of back seat capacity and ride comfort. This is true of the majority of other mid size cars as well. It has a powerful V6 engine and 4 wheel drive as standard, and it has an independent rear suspension, which gives it poised handling. This allows it to travel with a purpose. When you take into account the various standard driver assistance features offered by the 2022 Ridgeline as well as the truck’s comfy and peaceful cabin, you end up with a pickup that is desirable as well as functional.
The 2022 Ridgelines get the slightest of changes in the form of a new paint color, which is designated as Sonic Grey Pearl and was introduced in 2022. In addition to this, the pickup truck is still offered in four distinct model levels, each of which is equipped with the same V6 engine and standard 4 wheel drive.
Ford Maverick
Despite the fact that the Maverick label was formerly used to a subpar compact vehicle series produced by Ford in the 1970s, the automaker has decided to bring it back for an upcoming model of their smallest pickup truck, which will be positioned below the Ranger in terms of size. This time around, Instead of sharing components and mechanicals with the Ranger, the Maverick is built on the same chassis as the compact crossover that Ford offers under the Bronco Sport brand. The standard powertrain consists of a 4 cylinder engine with a capacity of 2.5 liters, an electric motor, an automatic gearbox with a constantly changing ratio, and front wheel drive.
There is an option for 4 wheel drive, but it is exclusive to the non hybrid version of the 2.0 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. All of the vehicles have the same body configuration, which is a 4 door crew cab with a 4.5 foot bed. The Hyundai Santa Cruz, which is scheduled for sale later on in this year, will be the company’s first entry into a new class of compact pickup trucks that the Maverick belongs to.
