Despite the fact that Honda totally rebuilt the new Civic, the powertrain options from the last generation were retained. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine in the upgrade version still generates 180 horsepower while the base version’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine makes 158 horsepower.
There is just one available model of the new Civic with front-wheel drive. Unfortunately, for 2022, only a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) will be an option, replacing the six-speed manual gearbox that was previously offered on the hatchback version of the previous generation Civic sedan. Our Touring sedan’s 7.5-second sprint to 60 mph on our test track is a tad slower than the Civic of the previous generation.
In our testing, the manual Sport Touring hatchback did a little better, hitting 60 mph in 7.3 seconds. Thankfully, the quick handling, fast steering, and well-balanced ride of the previous generation vehicle are all still there in this one. We separately review the powerful Type-R and sporty Si variants, both of which will have a manual transmission.
According to the EPA, the mid-range EX variant of the new Civic achieves 33 mpg in the city, 42 mpg on the highway, and 36 mpg in the combined cycle. When we get the chance, we’ll test drive the 2022 Civic on our 75 mph highway fuel-economy route and report back here with the results.
2022 Hyundai Elantra

The 2022 Hyundai Elantra stands out in traffic thanks to its striking design, but the little car it hides is surprisingly capacious and practical. A lot of high-end conveniences are offered, especially on the top-tier trims, to further enhance the wow factor inside, which is also furnished in a futuristic manner. An optional hybrid motor and a turbocharged four-cylinder with 201 horsepower are in addition to the slow four-cylinder with 147 horsepower that comes standard. 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage

The 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage offers a few positives, such as reasonable gas mileage, convenient parking, and affordability, but those are where the advantages end and the disadvantages begin. The Mirage, which is the Mirage G4 sedan’s hatchback version, has a little advantage over its four-door sibling in terms of luggage space, but other than that, they are quite identical, including sharing the same woefully underpowered 78-hp three-cylinder engine.
