4.7/5Overall Score

There are sportier options to the Mercedes-Benz E-class in 2022, but few are as high-class and high-technology as the Mercedes-Benz E-class. While the ordinary E's driving experience isn't as thrilling as its AMG-tuned twin–the separately evaluated 429-hp E53–it is calm and quiet. It has a luxurious interior, is surprisingly quiet, and is equipped with cutting-edge technology such as twin screens built in the dashboard. The E350 sedan is powered by a turbo four, which is standard for the market, but the E450 gets a delicious turbocharged straight-six. This powerful, smooth engine is standard on the coupe and cabriolet, and is optional on the sedan. Regardless of the powertrain, all body designs offer a comfortable and balanced ride to complement their elegant interiors.

The Mercedes-Benz E-class 2022 is an excellent vehicle. It consists of a variety of strong engines, including turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines, as well as a twin-turbo V8. The ride quality is excellent, and only a few other premium midsize automobiles can equal the grandeur of this Mercedes’ interior. The cabin is peaceful and opulent, with plush seats and a plethora of basic technological equipment.

Mercedes upgrades the E-class range for 2022 with modest changes. Automatic high-beam headlights are now standard on all models. A number of new paint colors are also available. Nautical Blue metallic, Starling Blue metallic, Manufacktur Moonlight White, and Manufacktur Starling Blue metallic are among the new colors.

Every E-class comes with a dependable nine-speed automatic gearbox and three different engines. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the E350 produces 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It may be used with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. A turbocharged inline-six cylinder engine with a 48-volt hybrid system that also serves as an electric supercharger powers the E450. All four wheels receive 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Because the E-class is designed for comfort, its handling is decent but not sporty. When pushed hard, it leans in corners, but it seldom seems overloaded. The ride is velvety with the optional air suspension set to Comfort, and the E-class is ideal for consuming a lot of road.It glides over bumps in the road with barely a smattering of unpleasantness being transferred to the cabin. The steering is pleasantly weighted—not too light, nor too heavy—and feels precise when the drive-mode choice is set to either Comfort or Eco. On the motorway, the E-class tracks straight with a strong and reliable character, and road input is minimized. Unfortunately, stopping from 70 mph took the E450 we tested a long 187 feet.

With rear-wheel drive, the four-cylinder E350 got 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, while with all-wheel drive, it got 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. With ratings of 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, the more powerful E450 model is equally as efficient. We’ll be able to assess real-world mpg after we’ve had the opportunity to test the various powertrains on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route.
