Contrary to common opinion, not everyone enjoys SUVs—count us among those who don't—and the Volvo V60 and V60 Cross Country wagons for 2022 are appealing and practical alternatives. With its stylish plastic wrapping and somewhat higher ride height, the Cross Country tries to bridge the gap between wagons and crossovers. However, wagon fans will salivate over the sporty Recharge T8 Polestar variant, which has a plug-in hybrid powertrain with 455 horsepower and up to 41 miles of electric driving range. Apart from the Subaru Outback, the station wagon looks to be a premium vehicle, with competitors including the Audi A4 Allroad, Mercedes-Benz E-class All-Terrain, and Volvo's bigger V90 Cross Country.

The Volvo V60 wagon is a decent vehicle. You have a choice of two powerful powertrains, one of which is a plug-in hybrid with excellent fuel efficiency and precise handling and a comfortable ride. The interior is one of the prettiest in the class, and the seats are comfortable and roomy. The cargo space is adequate, and once you get the hang of it, the infotainment system is simple to operate.
