2023 Bentley Flying Spur S

The 2023 Bentley Flying Spur S seems sportier and sounds louder

2023 Bentley Flying Spur S, Bentley’s grand sedan receives a new athletic appearance, with V8 or plug in hybrid engine options and louder exhausts. The 2023 Bentley Flying Spur portfolio will include a new S variant that prioritizes driving enjoyment. It has gloss-black trim on the outside and a two-tone interior with S-specific accents. The Flying Spur S is available with a 542-horsepower twin-turbo V-8 or a 536-horsepower plug-in hybrid engine.

The newly launched 2023 Flying Spur S will be ideal for Bentley clients who don’t want to sit in the back seat. Its selectable 542-hp twin-turbo V-8 and 536-hybrid powertrains are identical to those found on other Flying Spurs, and this is the first time an S-badged Bentley is available as a hybrid.

The absence of external chrome distinguishes the Flying Spur S. Instead, the grille, lower front fascia, mirror caps, and window trim are all finished in gloss black. The headlights and taillights are also darkened, adding to the evil appearance. The only remaining chrome is the Bentley logo and wording on the trunk lid.

The Flying Spur S may be equipped with a variety of wheels that are specific to this model. A pair of tri-spoke 21-inch wheels with gloss-black and machined surfaces is one of the options. There’s also a pair of 22-inchers available in gloss black (seen below) or Pale Brodgar satin. Every variant, regardless of rim type, features red-painted brake calipers. Furthermore, the Flying Spur S includes rear-wheel steering and active anti-roll bars, commonly known as Bentley Dynamic Ride.

The Flying Spur S comes in two-tone color patterns that blend leather with a faux-suede material on the inside. Its seats may be ordered with quilting, and the normal “S” embroidery on the headrests can be swapped for free with Bentley’s winged emblem. Other S-specific features include illuminated sill plates, a metal “S” insignia on the dash panel, and digital instruments with a motorsport-inspired design that’s also featured on the Bentley Continental GT Speed.

The twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 with 542 horsepower and 569 pound-feet of torque is the appropriate powerplant for individuals looking for the fastest version of the Flying Spur S. It has an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as standard, and a 2021 Flying Spur we drove hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The V-8 variant has a peak speed of 198 mph, according to Bentley. It receives the S treatment, which includes a modified exhaust system for a sportier tone than the standard model. Bentley’s 626-hp W-12 engine is unavailable in the S variant.

Although it lacks the menacing roar of the V-8 and has a peak speed of only 177 mph, the plug-in hybrid variant’s 536 horsepower and 553 pound-feet are impressive. Unlike the V-8, it will have a projected electric-only range of 21 miles. The PHEV S also boasts “ingenious sound improvements” beneath the hood, according to Bentley, to excite the driver when Sport mode is used while keeping things quieter in the rear seat.

The pricing of the 2023 Bentley Flying Spur S with V-8 is projected to be around $245,000. The plug-in hybrid variant is expected to start about $243k.
