That’s still pretty slippery, but not nearly as good as the reported 0.20 for the Mercedes-Benz EQS. This should boost its range when compared to the taller ID.4, whose range is EPA-rated at up to 275 miles. Despite Volkswagen boasting that the ID.Aero and its 77.0-kWh battery pack will give a driving range of 385 miles on the more forgiving WLTP test, we believe the ID.Aero will exceed the 300-mile mark on the more difficult EPA cycle.

At 190 inches, the ID.Aero is nearly the same length as the previous mid-size Passat sedan. It closely mimics the design of its SUV sibling, with similar-looking headlamps and taillights, chrome roofline trim, a black roof, and well-known side surfaces. Although the massive 22-inch wheels and touch-sensitive door handles may not be used in production, we believe the end product will be very similar to the concept. According to VW, this sedan will be the company’s electric flagship vehicle, available in Europe, China, and North America. When it joins the American market, it will face competition from automobiles such as the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 6, and Polestar 2. The production version of the ID.Aero should be available in 2019.
